Abstract:

This paper identifies marine areas where new or expanded discharges are unacceptable based on existing knowledge; e. g. , water quality standards are currently not met, and impairment of existing beneficial uses may occur. It also provides a means to determine whether adequate initial dilution can be achieved at a given site. This method uses their projected wastewater flows, effluent quality, and diffuser design.
