Abstract:

In Mississippi, the key state agency charged with the responsibility for coastal wetland protection is the Bureau of Marine Resources, a sub-division of the Department of Wildlife Conservation. At the other end of the spectrum are private firms, entrepreneurs and public development agencies. The primary objectives of these entities are increased economic growth and development to produce jobs and income; thereby contributing to the nation's economic well-being.
