Abstract:

Beach nourishment with sand fill has been extensively used to restore recessional beaches, but the success of this method has been variable due to a poor understanding of sediment dispersion in the littoral environment. A beach-fill project can be sucessfully designed for a specific location by determining how individual sediment grain-size fractions are partitioned among transport paths on the beach and shoreface. 22 refs.
