Dredge Material Evaluation Through Harbor Characterization in New England

by James J. Bajek, US Army Corps of Engineers, New, England Div, Waltham, MA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Coastal Zone '85

Abstract:

The New England Division (NED) of the Corps has recently developed a broad based methodology for simultaneously evaluating dredging projects that are in close proximity and which would result in disposal at an open water site. Consideration is given to point and nonpoint source discharges, hydrodynamics, shoreline use (historic and present) as well as type and quantity of sediments to be dredged. This information is integrated with all available physical and chemical test sediment data for the particular waterbody under consideration.
