Abstract:

The Code of the City of Norfolk was amended in 1982 to establish a procedure for permitting and preservation of the city's saltmarshes and sand dunes. A Wetlands Board was appointed, with the authors respectively chairman and staff officer. In this paper they explain the definitions of wetlands, dune, and reaches together with the pertinent laws and regulations of the commonwealth of Virginia.
