Abstract:

The Coastal Zone Management Act of 1972 (the CZMA, Pub. Law 92-583, as amended) establishes a national program to promote the wise use and protection of coastal land and water resources. The CZMA encourages and assists states and territories in dealing with the increasing demands for the use of the Nation's coastal areas by providing technical and financial assistance and policy guidance to state and territorial governments to develop and implement coastal zone management programs.
