Abstract:

This paper discusses environmental auditing as implemented within the Aluminum Company of America (Alcoa) and focuses on auditing as a management tool. The program is covered from its conceptualizations to the current implementation. Environmental auditing is relatively new within Alcoa and continues to undergo changes as we gain experience. Nevertheless, the auditing program has proven at this early stage in its evolution to be an effective tool for improving environmental management. (Author abstract. )
