Abstract:

A proposed synthetic watershed model which simulates the hydrologic process of both overland flow and interflow is presented in this paper. The synthetic model has features designed to be incorporated with digital terrain models. The purpose of the model is to support research investigations into the spatial and temporal accumulation of streamflow over complex topography. A synthetic soil layer overlying an impermeable boundary permits the simulation of interflow, accumulation of soil moisture, and the infiltration/exfiltration process.
