Abstract:

The current Bureau of Reclamation approach to seepage assessment, analysis, and design for embankment dams is described. The advantages and appropriate applications for the analysis programs in use are discussed, as are methods and sources of material property data and criteria for safe design. Seepage control features are reviewed, and brief references to appropriate case histories are made. 51 refs.
