by Jeffrey M. Key, SF/Braun, Orange, CA, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Civil Engineering in the Arctic Offshore

Abstract:

The hardware used to support and protect arctic pipelines has evolved through several years of innovative design work by various engineering firms. The hardware used on the Kuparuk River Unit, which is operated by ARCO, is described including an explanation of how each design was influenced by a unique combination of loads and other requirements. In some instances, the final design has been the result of test programs, and these tests are described briefly. Finally, the effectiveness and relative merits of each hardware component are discussed.
