Maintaining Our Goals

by Arnold H. Vollmer, Vollmer Associates, New York, NY, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Rebuilding America: Infrastructure Rehabilitation

Abstract:

Setting goals is easier than achieving them and, once achieved, they must not be viewed as final accomplishments to put behind us - they must be sustained. Although goals are essentially functional, they are externalized in physical structures which, if not carefully maintained, can and will deteriorate. Traditionally the infrastructures have been dependent on periodic political action for maintenance funds which are less than glamorous expenditures.
