Abstract:

The Longxihe River hydropower system consists of four hydropower plants in series. The four reservoirs are used for flood control and power generation. Among the four reservoirs, only reservoir 1 has enough storage capacity for over-year regulation and the other three are for daily regulation. The study determines the optimal distribution of hourly load to the four plants to minimize the total discharge per mega-watt-hour of generated energy in a period of 24 hours.
