Abstract:

A numerical model has been developed for simulating the propagation of a flood wave in a natural channel. Using this numerical model, the influence of the factors affecting the motion of the flood wave has been evaluated. Solutions obtained from the numerical experiments have been presented in the form of dimensionless graphs. These solution graphs can be used for predicting the flood characteristics at a downstream location with given values of controlling parameters.
