Abstract:
This is the seventeenth report in a series of biennial salary surveys conducted by the American Society of Civil Engineers. Salary data is reported on seven major categories for civil engineers: (1) Consulting firms; (2) construction firms; (3) design and construction firms; (4) railroads, utilities, and industries; (5) state government departments and agencies; (6) municipalities, counties, and regional authorities and; (7) education. Descriptions of the sampling procedure, employment categories and regions, and professional grades are given. The summary of findings includes the number of responses by employment category, average increase of median entrance salaries, average overall benefit costs for the past decade, and average fringe benefit costs by employment categories. Comments are provided on the data, analysis and presentation. Six regions within the continental United States are included, with Alaska, Hawaii, and foreign responses comprising the seventh region. Forty-six tables and figures are provided.
