Abstract:

An innovative, advanced graphical computer-aided design system, called STEEL-3D, is described. The main objective of this program is to provide the engineer with all the tools necessary not just for analysis but for the creative design of two- and three-dimensional steel-framed structures. Various concepts are presented which indicate how interactive color computer graphics and the individual workstation can perform effectively for the structural designer.
