Part of: Structural Engineering in Nuclear Facilities

Abstract:

A computer system for the analysis and design of cable tray hangers for nuclear power generating plants is discussed. An interactive language for the CADSTrayS was developed. Application examples using the interactive language which involves the combined use of computer graphics with database management is highlighted. CADSTrayS has two distinct applications: Verification/checking of existing design, and New design of cable tray supports. Outstanding features of CADSTrayS are: 2D/3D structural analysis (static and dynamic); Seismic qualification to Nuclear Regulatory Commission regulations; Member selection, and design to AISC Manual; Print-out of complete supports; Computerized drafting of supports and details; Storage and retrieval of results using database; and Bill of quantities and cost.
