Abstract:

Approximately 75 of the papers presented at the 1982 ASCE Hydraulics Division Specialty Conference in Jackson, Mississippi are included in this publication. The papers examine many aspects of applying new approaches to solving hydraulic problems in hydraulic practice. Specific areas include drop structures, spillways, jets and mixing, tidal hydraulics, and tidal inlets. Particular attention is given to modeling in hydraulics including turbulence models, model studies, and verification of models of hydrologic transport and dispersion. Small hydro design innovations and applications are also considered and case histories of small hydro projects are presented. Design and performance of reversible flow trash racks are covered. The phenomena of sediment transport is covered including discussions on the energy/power approach to this phenomena. The control of water quality in reservoirs and releases is also examined.
