Abstract: In 1999 the Los Angeles District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) repaired the north Ventura breakwater head. The head was rebuilt using 2-ton underlayer stone armored with 20-ton Core Loc units. This paper reviews basic design requirements and construction elements employed to achieve the repair. Available post construction monitoring techniques are discussed.
