In the worldwide search for intermediate transportation solutions between the bus and subway, the city of Curitiba, Brazil has achieved unusual levels of performance and quality. Curitiba has developed an integrated bus-transit network utilizing simple but efficient innovations: exclusive lanes, bi-articulated buses, direct lines, and tube stations. The efficacy of this system has been central to the city's ordered growth and high standard of living.
