Abstract:

This volume, Reconstruction of the West Breakwater at Port Sines, Portugal, is a collection of papers presented at a seminar held at Sines, Portugal on September 16-17, 1993. This case history presents an example of the design of a rubble mound structure in deep water and subjected to deep water wave attack. It is a good example of the planning, design, construction, and monitoring of this important and complex structure. This collection of papers represents contributions from geologists, planners, surveyors, contractors, laboratories, and civil engineers and is a significant milestone in the development of marine facilities in very deep water.
