Abstract:

An Adaptive Modal Filter (AMF) algorithm is developed which uncouples complicated multi-mode structural dynamic response into simple single-mode response. The application to active structural vibration control is shown and a successful full scale experimental implementation on highway bridge is presented. Up to 90% reduction in global mode responses were achieved with the active vibration control system.
