Abstract:

Specific pavement studies of newly constructed, reconstructed or rehabilitated (resurfaced) pavement sections were used to provide an estimate of the relative influence of key pavement elements that affect pavement performance in terms of the Strategic Highway Research Program's (SHRP) SUPERPAVE specification validation. The study was explicitly designed for validation of the SHRP performance-based specifications and the SUPERPAVE mixture design analysis system. The importance of this study is highlighted by its ability to evaluate the interaction of traffic, structural parameters and climatic factors on pavement performance in a controlled manner.
