Thorough preparation of stone placement specifications can go a long way toward keeping projects on track. But developing well-prepared placement specifications is not easy. It requires an understanding of the importance of placement specifications in the project process, an awareness of common placement specification pitfalls, and a concentrated effort to improve the way these specifications are written. The paper addresses these issues.
