Abstract:

Various data acquisition options for hydrologic oriented GIS are presented. These options include manual digitizing, commercial digital data, satellite products, and automated scanning. The advantages and disadvantages of each option are discussed in relation to typical hydrologic data sets. A case study is presented in which a land use data base was constructed for the state of Maryland.
