Abstract:

The characteristics and applications of a cavitation-resistant alloy, Hydroloy HQ913, are described. The alloy as weld overlays applied on hydropower plant components by covered electrodes or tubular wires has been proven to reduce the repair frequencies of the turbines in the actual field tests. This paper presents the characteristics of these welding consumables as well as their optimum welding parameters plus two case histories of commercial applications.
