Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Waterpower '91: A New View of Hydro Resources

Abstract:

The 'Manual of Practice for Steel Penstocks' is being written under the supervision of the Hydropower Committee of the ASCE Energy Division. The committee felt a comprehensive design document was needed for the design, fabrication and maintenance of penstocks. Questionnaires were sent to various organizations soliciting feedback on the need for a penstock code and requesting data on codes currently in use. The response indicated that a comprehensive penstock code was needed. The individuals that make up this committee are from a broad cross-section of the steel pipe engineering and construction community. The completed Manual will be published in an 8 1/2 inch ? 11 inches format, bound in a soft cover. Current plans call for the manual to be available from ASCE about Jan. 1, 1992.
