Abstract:

This paper describes an inexpensive automatic control system for soils testing. The system comprises a microcomputer, an analog to digital converter, a relay board, and solenoid valves. It has been used successfully in Ko-consolidation and strain controlled loading of cubical specimens in a cuboidal shear device. Possibilities of using this system in other soil testing systems are also explored.
