Abstract:

Information for reservoir water-supply planning is available from an interactive PC-DOS-based program. With this program, the user controls the sequence of data preparation and simulation through pull-down menus. The user fills in the blanks in data-entry screens to define system characteristics, hydrologic inputs, and operation rules. At any time, the user may simulate operation. The program shows results on-screen, as it computes them. The user can halt the simulation, edit the input, and restart. This expedites the edit-simulate-evaluate cycle. By doing so, it permits the civil engineer to focus on solutions to water-use problems, rather than on solutions to computer-use problems.
