Abstract:

This proceedings, Water Resources Planning and Management and Urban Water Resources, contains papers presented at the 18th Annual Conference and Symposium held in New Orleans, LA, May 20-22, 1991. The objective of the conference is to provide an annual forum for discussion and exchange of technology on the broad range of issues relating to water resources planning management. The emphasis is on practical state-of-the-art water resources engineering among practicing professionals. The subjects covered are as far reaching as the fields of water resources. Traditional areas of droughts, floods, and water supply as well as more recent areas such as risk analysis, remote sensing, real-time control, and expert systems are covered. The theme of the conference is related to urban water resources issues and is tailored to be of particular relevance to the Gulf Coast and Midsouth region. To this end, a Symposium on Urban Water Resources covers such topics as 1) Water distribution systems; 2) rehabilitation of urban drainage infrastructure; 3) urban storm water modeling; 4) geographic information systems; and 5) urban ground water quality issues.
