Abstract:

To further the goal of enhancing the safe and efficient transportation of radioactive materials, the US Department of Energy and the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance have entered into a cooperative agreement to conduct a pilot study to test draft procedures for state inspections of highway route controlled quantity radioactive shipments. To succeed, this five-year study requires close collaboration between federal and state agencies and non-governmental organizations. Significant institutional relationships have been established for this study.
