Abstract:

Neutron gauge characteristics and soil chemistry affect gauge calibration. External factors also influence gauge calibration and should be considered in the calibration procedure. Gauge operators need to be familiar with gauge theory and basic principles involved in gauge operation to understand the effect of external factors on the calibration process. The effects of both internal and external factors on the calibration process are presented.
