Abstract:

Graphical scheduling has been very popular throughout the world, but until recently, has not been available for a computerized scheduling system. Computerized graphical scheduling systems are now being implemented in the U.S. and other countries, by taking advantage of improvements in PC-graphics technology. Schedulers are re-discovering the benefits of graphical scheduling, without the tedious effort of drawing the schedule graphs. This paper introduces to transit professionals the potential benefits of 'seeing' vehicle and operator schedules graphically and describes the approach used by the HASTUS scheduling system.
