Abstract:

The purpose of this study is to examine the use of a portable computer, the GRIDcase Plus, in local pavement management. A software program in BASIC is developed to run on the GRID, to be used to collect and store pavement inventory and distress data. In addition, a computer-based method suitable for local agencies and towns is developed to select pavement treatments based on data collected. Lastly, the usefulness and applicability of this technology are tested for the Town of Westhampton, and the results and conclusions are presented.
