Abstract:

The new developments and refinements in trenchless reconstruction technologies now permit total sewer system rebuilding of collectors, interceptors, manholes, service laterals, and force mains without excavation. Through the use of cured-in-place, poured-in-place and fold-insert-and-expand technologies, this new generation of reconstruction can help control infiltration and exfiltration more effectively while restoring full structural integrity to deteriorated, leaking storm and sanitary systems. These new advancements include techniques for reconstructing laterals from inside mains to and beyond the property lines, structural rebuilding of existing manholes, and a means of introducing plastic pipe into sewers without excavation and without leaving an annular space between old and new pipe walls.
