Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Safety and Reliability

Abstract:

In this study the influence of corrosion is determined as a function of the stress intensity factor, the frequency and the stress ratio of the loading process. The present study investigates the influence on the time variant structural reliability of both, the deterioration processes of corrosion and fatigue. The limit state function, that describes the failure mechanism of the structure, is modeled by utilizing the Two Criteria approach. The calculation of the failure probability, which is performed by applying the advanced simulation method of adaptive sampling, is updated after a specified number of load applications.
