Abstract:

Failure phenomena should be investigated clearly with a good understanding of engineering uncertainties associated with strength of the material as well as randomly applied load. In this respect, the present paper deals with the crucial and indispensable importance of the statistical consideration and discusses the stochastic modelling of failure phenomena leading to essential and useful statistical models which play a crucial role in the reliability-based design of machines and structures.
