Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Safety and Reliability

Abstract:

We consider an N-story building that supports 1-degree-of-freedom equipment on one of the floors, and examine both the building's and the equipment's responses to a severe earthquake that forces the building into the hysteretic regime. Numerical results are presented for a five-story building as several key parameters of the combined system are varied.
