Abstract: Gust response factors (GRF) based on nonlinear dynamic analysis including the PΔ effect are calculated. All sample structures analyzed show clearly that, for wind speeds exceeding the design wind velocity, the GRF's based on nonlinear dynamic analyses are somewhat larger than those obtained from linear analysis. This fact can be explained by the softening of the structure when it enters the highly nonlinear range.
