Practical Aspects of Structural Control

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Structural Safety and Reliability

Abstract:

Several problems in the practical implementation of structural control are discussed herein. These problems include the prediction of the actual behavior of existing structures, mathematical modelling of such behavior, several types of uncertainties, and the effect of these uncertainties on the reliability of controlled structures. The possible applications of automated system identification and fuzzy logic to structural control are also briefly reviewed.
