Abstract:

Several design equations for predicting the capacity of single-headed anchor bolts embedded in plain concrete have been recommended in the United States. The capacities predicted by these different recommendations differ significantly. This study compares the risk levels implied by these equations. By comparing reliability indices for these design equations, it is possible to make an objective evaluation of current design criteria.
