Abstract:

This paper describes the replacement of an old generating unit with a new unit in a turn-of-the-century mill building where three other such units were already operating. The key issues in the successful completion of this project were dealing with space and access constraints and maintaining the structural integrity of the powerhouse, while also maintaining the continuous operation of the three existing units throughout the construction period.
