Control and Tests of Tims Ford Induction Generator

by James T. Barnett, TVA, Knoxville, TN, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Water Power '87

Abstract:

This paper will discuss the electrical control scheme and commissioning tests developed for a small induction generator installed by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) at its Tims Ford Hydroelectric Plant. Community, commercial, and environmental needs establish the water quality standards which TVA must maintain downstream of this plant. This installation is an effort by TVA to fully utilize water potential, that under previous arrangements would be lost, while continuing to meet the required quality standards.
