The powerplant, equipped with eight bulb turbines, will use a portion of the water currently diverted from the Mississippi River to the Red/Achafalaya Rivers through the structures of the Old River Control Project. The eight turbines will discharge up to a total of 150,000 cfs and the operating head will vary from 8 to 20 feet.
