Abstract:

While there may indeed be valid concern for controlling access to computers and programs, and data integrity should be considered, there should not be burdensome features which render an application significantly less effective. The power of microcomputers is in getting applications programs to many and varied users throughout an organization. Security issues should not impose restrictive limits on access to computers and programs, but sensitive areas can and should be protected. This paper examines security issues that are likely to be relevant in a microcomputer environment and attempts to put these issues into a proper perspective.
