Abstract:

This paper presents the basic features of a subarea focusing program developed by JHK & Associates through a contract with the U. S. Department of Transportation. The program is designed to convert regional transportation databases to specific subarea study data for use in currently marketed microcomputer based transportation planning systems. The basic process is defined by the following steps: create a zone equivalence file; format and convert zonal data sets; select links from the regional data set; modify study area link data; format and convert link data sets.
