Part of: Quality of Inspectors? In Search of Excellence

Abstract:

The Bureau of Reclamation has developed a self-paced, job site focused, three level training program that encompasses the full range of construction inspection skills, knowledges, and abilities. The experience of the technical advisors, course designers and developers, and the organization's management is the focus of this discussion. Working with a voluminous list of skill requirements, teams of technical experts joined with course designers and brought organization and order to the massive task. Concepts and practices in course design and project management were pioneered and are described for the benefit and use in other similar projects. The products being developed have the benefits of low cost, high student accessibility, and job site specificity.
