Abstract:

Rehabilitation and expansion of the Port of Suez, started in 1977, has been an ongoing process for the last eight years and is continuing. As a result of detailed planning of facility rehabilitation and expansion as well as improvements in management and operations, the war-torn Port of Suez is being transformed into a modern cargo and passenger port. This paper describes the port as it was when the project was started; the planning of port rehabilitation, modernization and expansion; the improvements already made and those underway; and the plans for further development.
