Abstract:

This paper focuses on one type of contract and the relationship between the Contractor and the Resident Engineer that exists within that contract. The type of contract is where the Owner has developed the scope of the work, the design is completed, and the Contractor is asked to bid. The successful bidder will enter into a contract with the Owner in which compensation will be made through a series of bid items, some of which will be lump sum and some unit price.
