Abstract:

Coastal and ocean development challenge resource managers responsible for the conservation and maintenance of marine and estuarine resources with the task of mitigating or compensating for environmental losses. The destruction or degradation of habitat critical to many of most important fish and shellfish stocks is a serious problem in many areas. Prefabricated designed artificial reefs can be used effectively as part of comprehensive programs to compensate or mitigate for such losses.
