Deep Water Bering Sea Development Concepts

by Stephen X. Gunzelman, Brown & Root Inc, Houston, TX, USA,

Document Type: Proceeding Paper

Part of: Civil Engineering in the Arctic Offshore

Abstract:

A brief description of the major environmental factors that a structure used to produce oil and gas in the deep water Bering Sea would have to cope with is presented. In particular, the sea ice effects in the deep water portions of the Navarin and St. George Basins are outlined. Several structural concepts that might be feasible in such an environment are also discussed and briefly compared. These concepts are adaptions of existing deep water schemes already in various stages of development within the oil industry.
